A must add spot on your list and a personal favorite of mine, has to be the St. Regis Vintage room. This 1,600 square foot winter pop up bar and lounge is located just outside the St Regis hotel and offers a nice space to warm up and enjoy impeccable beverages and hand crafted bites. 

As if Deer Valley was didn’t offer enough amazing options, they are taking their commitment to their clients a step further and adding on an expansion. Deer Valley’s Expanded Terrain will add on an additional 3,700 acres of skiable terrain, more than doubling it’s size and making it one of the largest resorts in North America. This expansion will allow Deer Valley to offer over 5,726 acres of skiable terrain accessed by 37 chair lifts serving 238 ski runs. Additionally, a new community designed and created by Tiger Woods will be coming to the Deer Valley resort called the Marcella Club. If you’re wondering how transportation plays into your resort selection, we’ve got you covered. Transportation to any of these 7 resorts plays into the magical winter experience and just half the journey. The scenes along the roadway are unmatched and the roads are well maintained making it for a stress free trek. Each of these resorts averages just a quick 30- 45 minute drive from the Salt Lake City Airport. If you’re coming for a short trip and do not have your own vehicle- the airport has an array of rental options with mountain driving capabilities to ensure your safety. If you’re flying into town be sure to check for flight-rental car deals. Depending on which resort you choose, the airport has shuttle options you can take. If you’re staying down from the resort in town, the UTA offers a free ski bus route that runs daily starting in November until April. It is always best to review the UDOT website before traveling so that you are up to date and current conditions of the road and best suggested safety measures. Transportation to Alta:

Alta Ski Resort requires reservations Fridays-Sundays and Holidays from 8am-1pm during the months of December-March. Ski facilities open at 8am and they offer their own resort shuttles that run from 8:30am-5pm mid December-mid April. If you’re planning ahead and getting a rental car in advance- don’t worry you can still get your parking reservations early- use the code “RENTAL” for your plate to secure your spot and update the resort with your plates once you’ve arrived. Alta has a money safe guarantee meaning if the highway has to close due to avalanche control or if the resort is not opening due to weather, you will not lose your money if you reserved your spot in advance. They also allow cancellations before 8am the day of your reservation for a full refund. 

Transportation to Snowbird:

Snowbird has onsite parking lots that make accessing the resort simple. If the parking lot is full, Snowbird also has highway parking along the side of SR-210 between Entry 1 and 4 that is first come first serve. Their website has live updates on their parking lot capacity to take the stress of guessing out of the picture. If you have 4+ members in your car, free parking is first come first serve. Be sure to check on their website as they will often give free giveaways to those that carpool- join their canyon carpool club to stay up to date.

Transportation to Brighton:

At Brighton reservations are required Friday-Sunday and on Holidays. Monday-Thursday parking reservations are not required, however, they do offer limited VIP Parking reservations. Reserved spots will be held until 11am the day of reservation- after this time your spot will be released to the public and parking spots are non-refundable. Midweek VIP parking is now available by reservations, same rules apply. If you are unable to book parking for your preferred day, don’t fret, check the night before or the morning of as cancellations are accepted up until 7am. Regardless of reservations, the Carpool App at Brighton encourages you to carpool up the canyon. They are working on the new release of this app so check their page for updates. If none of these options fit you know that 80% of their parking lot is FREE parking designated for passholders, carpoolers, and registered Snowsports School programs.

Transportation to Solitude:

Carpooling and public transportation are important to the valley to help reduce emissions and pollution, to help show their dedication to this, Solitude has paid parking that is effective daily from 12am to 1pm Monday-Thursday. Parking can be paid via TAP-N-SKI mobile pay or with one of the numerous kiosks located in their lot. Reservations are required on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays until 11am. If you are an Ikon Pass holder, you can ride the UTA Ski Bus for free. If you choose to carpool up the canyon to this resort, 4+ people to a car are free every day, Holidays included. Other than that, parking fees range from $10-$35, and are free no matter the occupants in the car after 1pm. Parking lots open daily at 7am and reservations will be required for any arrival before 11am. From 11am-1pm you may park at the daily rate, without a reservation, and any time after 1pm no reservation is required. Season parking pass holders can hold 5 active reservations, while daily users can hold up to 3 active reservations.

Transportation to Deer Valley:

Majority of parking for Deer Valley is located at the Snow Park Lodge base area, there are 5 lots located here but these lots fill up very fast so be sure to plan ahead and arrive early. The Deer Valley App has a live parking lot tracker that allows you to have up to date information on how full the parking lots are looking and if you need to plan differently and go to an offsite lot where free shuttles are available. If the parking is almost full, groups of two or more skiers should look into the skier drop-off which takes the group and their gear right to the base. For those that are early risers and take US 40- there are limited parking spots at the Jordanelle Gondola, but heads up, parking usually fills here by 8:30am on most days. No matter the day, overflow parking can be found at Richardson Flat Park & Ride. This is easily accessed from the Park City exit of US 40, if you park here be sure to hop on the Brown 8 express bus which will take you directly to Deer Valley’s Snow Park Lodge and runs every 20 minutes from 6am-6pm daily.

Choosing to utilize the bus and carpool options not only helps the mountain’s health by decreasing emissions, it also gives you a chance to get to the slopes quicker. The town of Park City has designated bus lanes allowing buses to zip pass the cars stuck in ski traffic. Deer Valley has 8 bus lines that bring skiers to the Snow Park Base: Red, Yellow, Green, Teal, Brown, Wasatch Back Connector 106 and Spiro 101. All buses display “Deer Valley” on the sign, those headed down the mountain say Outbound. Many lodges offer complimentary shuttles that drop skiers off right at the lifts, be sure to check into any deals and offers that may be available. If getting to the bus isn’t an option for you, use one of the several large transit lots within and on the outskirts of town to park, then grab either a free bus or carpool. Carpoolers with 3 or more guests are rewarded with reserved parking in Lot 2 on the weekends. 

Transportation Park City Mountain Resort:

Park City Mountain Resort has almost as many parking options as it does lifts. Mountain Village Base operates under a reservation system with options including paid parking, free parking, carpooling and transit incentives. Reservations are required 7 days a week in the Mountain Village Base area until 1pm and can be made online starting in November. Mountain Village Base area that requires these reservations include: Main, First Time and Silver King parking lots between 830 am-1pm.  After 1pm all parking is free and no reservation is needed. Daily reservation fee is $26.65 per vehicle. Reservations for the Mountain Village garage are required every day and are $45+ service fees. Reservations are free for cars with 4 or more occupants at all times. Reservations are available 72 hours in advance. Walk time to the lifts from the Mountain Village lots is about 5 minutes. 

At Canyons Village, parking in the Cabriolet lot will be available for free on a first-come, first-served basis. There are also paid lots in the Upper Village and by the Pendry, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking reservations are not available in the Canyons Village base area. Free Parking is still available at Canyons Village base area, Park City High School (on weekends and holidays) and High Valley Transit Park-n-Ride locations like Richardson Flat and Ecker Hill. Text PARK to 435-244-7169 to receive text alerts about Park City Mountain. If you’re wanting to visit on the weekends or holidays, utilizing the Public Transit is encouraged. Be sure to follow Park City Resorts Twitter feed for parking lot status updates. Residents, workers and even visitors to Summit County can book a free ride on-demand through the “High Valley Transit” mobile app or by calling 435-246-1538. As a friendly reminder to all, Park City’s free bus system is a convenient way to access the mountain, stopping right at the base. 

Transportation  to Snowbasin:

Snowbasin boasts that they offer the most free parking of any resort in Utah, with no reservations required. This winter, they took it one step further and expanded parking, increased bus services making Snowbasin even more accessible. Snowbasin offers complimentary parking in five locations: Earl’s Lot, Maples Lot, Canyon Rim Lot, Wildcat Lot, and Green Pond Lot. There are also many complimentary guest shuttles to conveniently access the base area. To reduce environmental impact and alleviate congestion, it is encouraged to carpool or use public transportation whenever possible. Earl’s A and B is reserved for carpoolers with three or more people on weekends, while availability lasts. Street parking is managed by Weber County on Snowbasin Road. It is permitted on the right side of the white lines located near the Wildcat Parking Lot.

Utah Transportation Authority (UTA) Bus Service operates in the winter season daily with routes from Davis County and Ogden to-and-from Snowbasin Resort. It was just recently expanded with hourly routes from Davis County and a new stop in Huntsville on the Ogden Route. Season Pass Holders receive a discounted bus pass for just $10 each winter. For non-season pass holders, a one-way fare is $5 and round-trip fare is $10 which is payable directly to UTA.
